In 2014 Jack Mitchel,
Hops founder was looking for an unusual
community service project for his
International Bachelorette High School credits.
He didn't have to look any further than his own back yard...
His family's Belgian Hares +
and his fellow "low incident" students.
Jack did the research and found
documentation from Australia, New Zealand and Europe
with great success of interaction and positive results with
Autistic Students and "comfort animals".
The objective of "HOP" is to allow the kids to touch, feel, pet, and treat feed our Belgian Hares in a controlled low key
environment, while interacting with their handlers
Jack and William.
Regular weekly visits forged bonds
between Jack, William and the students.
Everyone looked forward to the
"Hare get-togethers."
William brought art activites
centered around the Hares
and had the students
draw and paint pictures
Now that Jack has graduated from
Schurz High School and the International Bachelorette
program he is a busy college freshman,
I would like to carry on the HOP
project and bring the program to you with my own
unique imprint.
